Home

For someone like me who spends so much time looking at pictures and reading articles online and in magazines as well as working "in the field", sometimes I begin to feel as though my style is a little...off. I'll put down an article featuring a home with less fuss, less color, just less....than my own and I wonder if maybe I need to change things around here. I look at my pink armless chair and think "Would you be better in beige?" but I can never bring myself to actually make a move (beige is just too...beige). Then there's the color blue. A perfect shade of blue gray green that I want on everything I own.  Is it too much to have a sofa AND drapes in the same color in the same room?  Sometimes I just walk through my house thinking about all the things I need to change if I want it too look like "a real" interior designer lives here. Don't I need to incorporate new trends? New colors? New patterns? And while all of these things are well and good I don't feel it necessary to change everything in my house...a throw pillow here, an end table there. When I come home late and my drapes are pulled back and my chandelier is lit, I can see my blue velvet sofa and my oil painting of the Seine River that takes up the whole wall....and it makes me happy. And isn't that what home is all about?

Numero Uno

This is, as the title indicates, the first post on a fabulous new blog (wishful thinking) created by myself, Elizabeth Prine and Erin Foster.  This blog will soon be expanded into a "nook" inside a local shop in Monroe, Louisiana in which we will give new life to found objects and help them find new homes (maybe even yours!) as well as expand our interior design business.  We will post pictures of new items as they are added, discuss current obsessions and trends, great places to shop, diy projects, ya-da-ya-da-ya-da.  So please keep in touch as we begin this exciting, new venture!
